There are many ways to understand children's relationship with the city they live in. However, transferring living environments to drawings through mental processes has been the subject of research in different disciplines. This study aims to examine how children read urban space through drawings. The field research was conducted in the 2021-2022 academic year. Kadıköy district of Istanbul was selected as the study area. The research was conducted with 387 volunteer children through questionnaires and drawings. According to the first survey findings, the places children spend the most time with their families (48.3%) are urban green areas. The reason for choosing the playground that children visit most frequently (60.1%) is that it is close to home and within walking distance. The place where children spend the most time outside the home is school/course (52.7%). Children prefer to walk (86.8%) when going somewhere in their homes and immediate surroundings. The type of house that children live in (84.7%) is an apartment. The vehicle that children use to go somewhere with their families (80.0%) is stated as a car. Accordingly, it is seen that the most frequently occurring places in the drawings are schools (n=31), grocery stores (n=23), pharmacies (n = 18), and bakeries (n= 17). In addition, facade drawings (75.24%),street drawings (27.14%), and suggestions will be presented. As a result, this study was conducted face-to-face with children examining the child-city-space relationship, and the rates were revealed in line with the data obtained from the children's drawings and answers. This research aims to examine the child-city-space studies conducted in the literature, evaluate the relationship that children establish with the city through their drawings, and provide a different perspective for future research. In addition, suggestions will be presented on how to address the child-architecture relationship in educational planning in Turkey and architectural design for children.
